Frisco, TX · Installation and replacement only
New AC installed in Frisco, sized for your home
Most Frisco homes are running the system the builder chose — picked on first cost, sized off a rule of thumb, and now fifteen to twenty years old. Replacing it is the one chance you get to have it sized for the house you actually live in. Tell us about the house and we will quote it properly.
Load calculation
We measure the house — square footage, orientation, glazing, insulation, duct capacity. Not the sticker on your old unit.
Fixed written quote
One number, itemised, valid for 30 days. No tier sheet, and nobody stays at your kitchen table until you sign something.
Install day
Most single-system changeouts are one day. We pull the permit, haul the old equipment, and register the warranty.
What we install
AC installation and replacement
Condenser, evaporator coil and lineset, with the permit, inspection and haul-away included. The most common job we do, and the one most Frisco homes need first.
Complete HVAC system replacement
Air conditioning and heating replaced together as a matched set. Costs less than doing them two years apart, and the components are designed to work as a pair.
Heating and furnace installation
Gas furnaces, electric air handlers and heat pumps, sized for a North Texas winter rather than a Chicago one.
Ductwork replacement and redesign
When the ducts are the actual problem — static pressure, undersized returns, attic trunks that have leaked since the house was built.
Why sizing decides everything
The nameplate is not a load calculation
The fastest way to quote a replacement is to read the tonnage off the unit being removed and put the same thing back. If the original was oversized — and in builder-grade North Texas construction it very often was — that repeats a fifteen-year-old mistake.
Oversized units short-cycle
A system with too much capacity satisfies the thermostat quickly and shuts off. Short runs mean the compressor starts and stops far more than it should, which is hard on equipment and wasteful at exactly the moment efficiency matters.
And they leave the house clammy
Removing humidity takes run time. A unit that blasts the air cold in eight minutes and quits has not run long enough to pull moisture out. That is why an oversized system can make a house feel cold and damp at once.
Ducts cap what any unit can deliver
You can install a perfectly sized four-ton system and still lose to undersized returns and leaky attic trunks. Part of the load calculation is checking whether the ducts can carry the air. If they cannot, we tell you before you buy the unit.

Repair versus replace, honestly
We only do installation. That means we have no repair work to protect and no reason to talk you out of a replacement — but it also means the incentive runs the other way, so here is the line we hold.
If your system is under about ten years old and the failure is a single component — a capacitor, a contactor, a fan motor — get it repaired. That is a few hundred dollars against several thousand, and you are not near the end of the equipment’s life. Call a repair company. Not us.
The $5,000 rule is the rough test people ask about. Multiply the age of the system in years by the repair quote. Over $5,000, replacement is usually the better call. A twelve-year-old system with a $500 repair comes to $6,000 — lean replace. A six-year-old system with the same repair comes to $3,000 — repair it.
It is a rule of thumb, not arithmetic that settles anything on its own. A compressor failure on a fourteen-year-old R-410A system is an easy replace call. A drain line and a capacitor on the same system is not.
Where it stops being close: the compressor has failed, the evaporator coil is leaking on a system out of warranty, or the unit still runs R-22. R-22 has not been produced or imported since 2020; what remains is reclaimed, expensive, and getting worse every year.
Frisco and the surrounding area
We install across Frisco and the North Dallas suburbs around it. Residential only — houses, townhomes and duplexes. Not commercial buildings, and not vehicles.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find out what a new system will cost?
Call, or send the form at the top of this page. We can give you a ballpark over the phone from your square footage and the age of your current system, then confirm it with a free in-home load calculation. You get one fixed written number, itemised and valid for 30 days — and there is no sales presentation attached to it. Get my free quote.
What is the $5,000 rule for AC?
Multiply the system’s age in years by the repair quote. If the result is over $5,000, replacement is usually the better value. A twelve-year-old system with a $500 repair gives $6,000 — replace. It is a starting point for the conversation, not a decision on its own. More on repair versus replace.
Can I legally install my own AC unit in Texas?
You can buy equipment, but in Texas anyone installing HVAC for compensation must hold a TDLR licence, and handling refrigerant requires EPA Section 608 certification. A homeowner working on their own residence has more latitude — but the install still needs a City of Frisco mechanical permit and inspection, and every manufacturer we install voids the parts warranty on equipment not installed by a licensed contractor. In practice that warranty is worth more than the labour saved.
Do I need a permit to replace an AC in Frisco?
Yes. Frisco requires a mechanical permit for equipment changeouts, with an inspection afterwards. We pull it and schedule the inspection — it should never be your job to chase, and a contractor suggesting you skip it is telling you something useful about the rest of their work.
How long does the installation take?
A standard single-system changeout is one day, usually six to eight hours. Add a day if ductwork is being replaced, the attic platform needs rebuilding, or it is a dual-system home. Hour by hour.
Is there a tax credit for HVAC in 2026?
The federal 25C credit covers 30% of the cost of qualifying high-efficiency equipment, up to $600 for a qualifying AC and up to $2,000 for a qualifying heat pump. Equipment has to meet the efficiency tier in force at installation. We list the qualifying rating on the quote so you are not guessing at tax time. Confirm the current year’s rules with your tax advisor — this is not tax advice.
